Franklin’s pursuit of excellence continues : Laura Bavoux joins the Restructuring and Distressed M&A team as Partner
Franklin continues its ascent following a model of excellence serving major French and international clients. After over 11 years of practice alongside top professionals in Restructuring, Laura Bavoux, named “rising star 2023” by Legal 500 and “ones to watch” by Best Lawyers, has decided to join the Restructuring team led by Numa Rengot alongside Arnaud Pédron as a partner.
Before joining Franklin, Laura Bavoux (36 years old) worked for five years as a Restructuring lawyer at Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP with a prominent figure in the sector, Jean Dominique Daudier de Cassini. Alongside Anne-Sophie Noury, she previously founded the Restructuring practice at BDGS from 2016 to 2019, after starting her career at DLA Piper from 2014 to 2016. Laura Bavoux supports listed and unlisted companies, startups, investment funds, executives, shareholders, and creditors, both French and international, in collective procedures, restructurings, or transactions. She also deals with governance conflicts or disputes with company lenders, as well as LBO debt restructurings.
In recent years, clients have appreciated her “empathetic,” “methodical” approach, and her “great loyalty” and “situational intelligence.” She has been involved in numerous major instances of restructuring (CDiscount, Arc, Salaün, Corsair, Rallye, Groupe Ciel/Lion Air, Sonia Rykiel, CGG, Ascometal). Recently, she assisted Intersport in its acquisition of Go Sport.
With a dual Master’s degree in Law from the University of Glasgow (2009) and in Business and Tax Law from the University of Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne (2011), Laura is a member of the Association for Business Recovery (ARE), Women in Restructuring (WIR), and the Association of Young Restructuring Professionals (AJR).
Combativeness, speed, and precision constitute this Savoyard’s DNA, passionate about winter sports with a penchant for biathlon and cross-country skiing, which she competed in.
The philosophy of Franklin’s Restructuring team: enhancing strength in increasingly complex areas.
Combined with the firm’s twenty other expertise fields and sectoral specializations, the Restructuring and distressed M&A team now has 8 lawyers: Numa Rengot (Partner and Co-Manager of the firm), Arnaud Pédron (Partner), Laura Bavoux (Partner), Pierre Dupuys (Of Counsel); and 4 associates: Fanny Attal, Margaux Chaumien, Marouan Fawzi and Emilie Gassier. Two new associates will soon join the team.
Laura Bavoux: “After evolving for eleven years within different types of structures, I felt a desire and interest in joining a free, agile, and independent firm to fully express my potential for action with room for innovation and creativity. Indeed, I am committed to delivering high-end and bespoke services to our clients, akin to a haute couture house where personalization is a top priority. I also wanted to join a firm that, with its personalized welcome, puts the client at ease, fostering trust for our future relationships. These are values shared by Franklin, and I am delighted to join as a Partner.”
Numa Rengot: “Laura and I share the same values of precision, combativeness, and creative agility. The evolution of our Restructuring team in increasingly complex fields requires even greater strength. We are delighted that Laura is joining us to serve the French and international clientele we advise at the highest level. Her arrival also aligns with our ambition to ‘bridge the gap’ with new generations of lawyers, ensuring the long-term development of the firm.”
