Franklin launches its Restructuring – Distressed M&A practice with new lateral hire

Franklin continues its expansion with the addition of partner Numa Rengot, who heads up the firm’s new Restructuring – Distressed M&A practice. The hire comes in the midst of several additions to the firm, including a substantial Labor and Employment Law team composed of 2 partners and 8 associates.

Numa Rengot began his career serving as counsel to various law firms in 2007 and was admitted to practice in Paris in 2013. He has recognized expertise in complex restructuring matters, specifically those involving the restructuring, acquisition and disposition of distressed assets. His practice focuses on creditor representation in French and European insolvency proceedings, debtor protection in non-contentious proceedings and in shareholder disputes requiring insolvency proceedings or ADR. Over the years, he has also built specific expertise in defending directors in post-insolvency actions. One of his strengths lies in his unparalleled knowledge of the workings of state and local government, which he leverages to solve any issues his clients may face.

He advises French and European businesses and corporations operating in France and abroad, especially in the United States, South-Africa, Mauritius and more generally in the West Indies, across a wide range of sectors including manufacturing, BTL communication (printers, routers, computer graphics,…), construction and services. Lately, his practice has also focused on the luxury goods, retail and real estate industries. He also routinely advises court-appointed receivers and private equity firms (turnaround funds, funds of funds, specialty funds).

Commenting on his hire, Numa Rengot said: “It is a privilege to be joining an established and renowned firm such as Franklin. I look forward to working closely with the firm’s corporate, employment, compliance and public affairs teams to provide our French and international clients with comprehensive and pragmatic solutions to meet their business needs.

Sharing his enthusiasm, Franklin’s partners said: “Numa’s personality and his extensive skill set will complement our teams’ expertise, reinforce our strength and add great value to our offering. Plus, his unique blend of sector-specific and international expertise, especially in Southern Africa and the United States, will deliver on the expectations of many of our clients.
